“I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for whatever it is that you did in the class last August to enable me to stop smoking. You succeeded where others – books, hypnosis, acupuncture, cold turkey, you name it I tried it – failed. I am now a confirmed non smoker, and what this had done for me is hard to describe but I will try.

Before the class I was an on-off smoker, mostly secret, and wasted so much energy trying to cover up my filthy little habit (not to mention money on the habit itself and all the cover ups- perfume, toothpaste, breathfreshers!). The negative effect on my health and self esteem was significant.

When I wasn’t smoking I thought about it most of the time and felt deprived and unhappy. When I did succumb I felt guilty. Not a particularly effective way to live! And yet I chose to live that way by choosing cigarettes! Now I am free of all that.

It wasn’t so much that I gave up smoking instead I have taken on positive health, self esteem and money to do fun things.

To anyone that truly wants to kick the habit, I recommend the class, just do it, whatever excuse you have for not doing it is probably the habit talking. Any excuse no matter how convincing will pale into comparison when you feel the sense of freedom of not having to smoke.

Oh and by the way, my neighbour who came to the class with me has also stopped. Unlike me she was a confirmed pack a day, had smoked for over 30 years and had tried everything else. You should see her, she is a different person.

I am so very grateful to Alan for the courage in developing the Carr process and enabling it to be shared around the world. And thank you Gail for delivering the class in such a powerful and yet gentle and loving way. You have enabled me to take control of my life!”

It was my one year anniversary on Feb 27th since I walked away from a follow up session and said goodbye to smoking forever.

I just cannot believe the incredible impact stopping smoking has had on my life, family, finances and most of all, my health.

I now exercise, have started doing meditation and so many other amazing life and work changes.

The program itself was so empowering and you were an incredible leader and a shining example to us all. In the final meditation, you asked as to visualize ourselves free of smoking and I visualized myself smoke free on our holiday, and in November I had my first smoking free holiday since I was 15.

My mum heard Allen Carr speaking on the radio while in the car and pulled over and wrote down the details of his book. She bought me that book -'Easyway to Stop Smoking' - and I read it.

After smoking heavily for more than 15 years, I quit after finishing the book (last August). Since then I have been made redundant, and separated from my long-term partner, and I still have not taken up smoking again.

Allen Carr's book made me think about the reasons why I smoke, and about my smoking behaviour, without using scare tactics.

Thank-you SO MUCH for your book Allen - I have almost been smoke-free for six months!
