International clinical evaluation of the Allen Carr Easyway® method

Over the years there have been several independent, physician audited evaluations of the Allen Carr method.

A study by Vienna University

Vienna University of Medicine, in co-operation with "market mind" has evaluated the success of Allen Carr's Easyway® courses to stop smoking.

53.3% success rate for Allen Carr Clinic courses to stop smoking after 12 months.

The scientific supervisor of the survey was Univ.-Prof. Dr. Manfred Neuberger of the Institute for Environmental Health. The study has now been presented to the public at a press conference.

The most important results:

• After 12 months the success rate for Allen Carr's Easyway® course was 53.3%
• 86.3% experience a sense of gain because they no longer smoke
• 58.1% claim that after 12 months their state of health is "better" or "much better"
• The health-related quality of life had improved significantly after only 3 months
• The feared side effect of weight increase is kept within limits: it is only 2 kg on average
  
  "We have also performed other evaluation studies on the subject of non-smoking. No other method of addiction-breaking could come close to the success rate (after 12 months) of Allen Carr's Easyway." (Magi. Erik Stadler, Marketmind)

On the basis of the positive results, the scientists from Vienna University and Marketmind reached the following conclusion, particularly for businesses:

"The method is suitable for effectively lowering smoking rates in businesses, improving the state of health and well-being of staff and smoothing the path towards smoke-free businesses. The success rate was higher than for alternative methods."

As well as presenting the previously unpublished results of the study Univ.-Prof. Dr. Neuberger together with Prim. Dr. Kurt Aigner, Elisabethinen krankenhaus Linz and President of the "Austrian Council on Smoking and Health" gave practical advice on how to give up cigarettes and avoid relapses.
